The wish-fulfilling goddess of the Shivalik foothills — a major Devi shrine accessible by cable car above Panchkula.
Mansa Devi Temple, on a forested Shivalik hilltop above Panchkula, is dedicated to a form of the goddess believed to grant the heartfelt wishes (mansa) of sincere devotees. The temple complex, expanded considerably in recent decades, includes the main shrine and several subsidiary temples, with a cable car (the Mata Mansa Devi Udankhatola) carrying pilgrims to the hilltop — a popular and accessible pilgrimage just outside Chandigarh.
As the principal Shakti shrine serving the Chandigarh tricity region, Mansa Devi draws enormous crowds during Navratri, when the temple stays open through the night and devotees queue for hours for darshan. Its accessible location makes it a natural starting point for pilgrims heading further into Himachal Pradesh to visit the larger Shakti Peethas of Jwalamukhi, Naina Devi and Chamunda Devi.
10 km from Chandigarh city centre; well connected by local transport and cable car from the base.
Year-round; Navratri (twice yearly) is by far the most significant and crowded period.
The ropeway saves a steep climb and offers fine views over the Shivalik foothills.
Chandigarh is the ideal launch point for the wider Himachal Shakti Peetha circuit.
